Cryo-EM Scientist: Computational

A world leading Biotechnology company situated in Cambridge, well known for an innovative approach to drug discovery and development, is seeking a Computational Cryo-EM Scientist.

Role Overview;

Working in a state-of-the art CRYO-EM facility, the successful candidate will be performing pioneering work to deliver atomic resolutions structures which in turn support structure-based and fragment-based drug discovery. Where once X-Ray crystallography was used, the increased ability of Cryo-EM has led to significant improvements in the drug discovery and development process.

My client is at the forefront of this world and are considered pioneers in the field. The facilities include 2 Glacios and 1 Krios transmission electron microscopes as well as a fully equipped Cryo-EM sample preparation Laboratory and sophisticated computing infrastructure and platforms.

This position is unique and exciting and the successful candidate will play a key role in developing cutting edge and novel methods for single particle analysis. A key part of the position is developing algorithms for liganded structure determination that facilitate in maximizing the impact of Cryo-EM for Fragment and Structured Based Drug Discovery.

Candidates should be collaborative, communicative, driven and excited by the prospect of working with some of the most exciting and cutting-edge technology in the drug discovery and development world.

Experience / Knowledge Sought;

• PhD in Cryo-EM, or a related discipline
• Experience in algorithm development with programming languages such as Python and C/C++
• Familiarity with a Cryo-EM software packages

Bonus Skills;

• HTML, CSS, JQuery and SQL
• Knowledge of deploying software applications to the cloud
