Owing to continued ambition, my client, a pioneering Banking Technology business with a global presence, are actively seeking a Junior-level Software Project Manager.
Purpose of the Role;
The purpose of this role is to provide project management for the implementation of solutions (hardware, but principally software) to commercial banks, cash in transit companies and central banks. These solutions are enterprise-level and the software delivered is integrated with the given client’s current software and perform high-level, large scale enterprise cash management tasks autonomously.
Broadly speaking, the successful candidate will use best practices in project management to plan, execute, track & report on projects. A technical background is required to effectively communicate with the team, assess progress, understand technical decisions and how they affect the project.
Please note that a lot of the initial responsibilities are all about getting to know the systems, software(s), team-mates and clients. The position is junior, so the emphasis is on a person’s willingness and ability to take on board training and learn.
Activities within the Role;
Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects and for liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The role promises to be diverse and challenging and in time, will include activities such as: -
+ Agreeing scope and project plans with clients – holding regular progress meetings, issuing weekly reports detailing progress, risk, issues and cash flow.
+ Ensuring that projects are delivered in the timescale agreed with the customer, within the cost estimated and that all activities over and above the contract requirements are agreed with and invoiced to the customer.
+ Manage installation and commissioning of software application within the agreed project plan including managing training programmes for customer personnel and others as necessary.
+ To maintain a clear change management process, so that all items outside the scope of the contract are highlighted and signed off by the customer.
+ Ensure smooth post implementation hand-over to Service.
What’s required to be considered?
+ An interest in developing a career in software/technical project management.
+ Demonstrable time management and organisation skills
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Ideally qualifications in Prince2 and/or PMP
+ Knowledge of suites such as MS Office, MS Project, Visio, Jira and confluence
+ Perhaps some relatable experience and/or relevant academic background such as Computer Science.
