Based in Abingdon, though with numerous sites elsewhere, our client are one of the UKs largest engineering consultancies. Despite their size, they are expanding quickly and are looking for a number of positions at sites around the UK. They are currently lookin for an addition to their governance team and are interested in receiving applications from qualified data protection analysts.

An opportunity has arisen for a Data Protection Analyst to join the established team. This role will suit a Data Protection / Data Privacy professional who has gained experienced in a global organisation. Ideally, you will have worked within a governance or a data protection team in a medium to large organisation where you were responsible for data compliance and auditing activities.

The role will be based onsite in Abingdon with potential for remote working during part of the week.

Key Responsibilities

+ Supporting and promoting compliance with data privacy legislation and best practice
+ Supporting the delivery of UK and international strategic data protection initiatives
+ Engaging with business and project teams to advise on privacy controls (including the completion of data privacy impact assessments) and mitigation of risks
+ Conducting root cause analysis in relation to personal data breaches and identifying remedial actions
+ Identifying and proposing steps to address compliance gaps or deficiencies ahead of implementing agreed measures
Responding to data compliance related questionnaires and queries from vendors, business partners, and clients.

Your knowledge and skills

+ Previous experience within the Data Protection / Privacy field in a global organisation.
+ Strong communicator, excellent time management and detail orientated attributes
+ Strong knowledge of and experience in dealing with GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018 related matters
+ Confident in designing, implementing and operating controls including policies and procedures

Desirable Skills

+ Privacy related qualifications / certification, i.e. International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP)
+ Degree level education - 2:1 or higher is preferred
+ Understanding of information technologies and data securities
