Cryo-EM Scientist Position, Cambridge. Multiple Roles.

A world leading Biotechnology company situated in Cambridge, well known for an innovative approach to drug discovery and development, is seeking multiple Cryo-EM Scientists / Structural Cell Biologists, as part of ambitious plans to continually improve its services in the fields of Neurological Disorders and Oncology.

Role Overview;

Working in a state-of-the art CRYO-EM facility, the successful candidates will be performing pioneering work to deliver atomic resolutions structures which in turn support structure-based and fragment-based drug discovery. Where once X-Ray crystallography was used, the increased ability of Cryo-EM has led to significant improvements in the drug discovery and development process.
The facility includes 2 Glacios and 1 Krios transmission electron microscopes as well as a fully equipped Cryo-EM sample preparation Laboratory and sophisticated computing infrastructure. Further to this, you’ll also be working with custom data collection workflows which facilitate the rapid generation and interpretation of Cryo-EM structures for structure-based drug discovery and fragment-based drug discovery.

Candidates should be collaborative, communicative, driven and excited by the prospect of working with some of the most exciting and cutting-edge technology in the drug discovery and development world.

Experience / Knowledge Sought;

The successful candidate(s) will hold a PhD and experience in one or more of the areas listed below; please note this is a #39&wish list#39& and experience with all is not expected:

*Expression, purification and characterisation of proteins, ideally including membrane proteins or protein complexes
*Experience in performing single particle Cryo-EM on a range of targets
*Generation, optimisation and analysis of negative stain and Cryo-EM grids
*Experience in the processing of single particle Cryo-EM data and familiarity with related software packages


Beneficial;

*Experience in using other biophysical methods in protein characterisation and protein-ligand interactions.
